Update for Cervical Screening

Starting in September, the NHS will begin sending your cervical screening results digitally through the NHS App.

If your test result is negative, you will receive a notification within the NHS App. You will also see a notification on the app. If you do not read the message within 72 hours, a letter will be sent as a backup.

Results that are abnormal will continue to be sent by post for now.

This update follows the successful introduction of digital invitations and reminders in June 2025. Since then, 9 out of 10 invitations are being sent digitally, with the rest sent by post.
